Lion Monty Whitney

The District Governor for Lions District 6-SE for 2007-2008 is Lion Monty Whitney. DG Lion Monty and his wife, Lion Betty, were born and raised on farms in Eastern El Paso County where each grew up and graduated from Calhan High School. They have two grown children, Stacey and Eric, who live and work in Colorado Springs.

DG Monty graduated from CSU with a major in Information Technology and a minor in Accounting. Lion Betty graduated from UCCS with a major in English. DG Monty served 4 years in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict – non-combatant. DG Monty retired from Hewlett Packard after 30+ years. Most of that time was spent in Colorado Springs, with a short stint in San Diego. DG Monty and Betty built a retirement home on Betty’s family farm North of Calhan; it is leased as cattle grazing and irrigated alfalfa.

DG Monty has been a Lion since 1999 and Lion Betty has been a Lion since 2000. In that time he has served as 1st V.P., 2nd V.P. and President (2 Years) of the Calhan Lions Club. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Calhan Lions Club.

Some of the awards DG Monty has received: Certificates of appreciation for being Zone A Chairman for 6 – SE in 2004 – 2005, and for work with Kidsight, on the state-wide Board of Directors for two years. The International President’s Certificate of Appreciation and the International President’s Bronze Certificate of Sponsorship from both Clement Kusiak and Frank Moore. Awards for Excellence in Membership Growth from Clement Kusiak, Jimmy Ross and Eileen Sanderson for sponsoring five new members in one month. Received the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation from Ashok Mehta. At the Colorado State Convention in Grand Junction in May 2007, he was awarded the Leadership Medal from International President Jimmy Ross.
